Recent Work

Hi, I’m Erika Ryan!

I’m a writer, producer, and digital storyteller living in Washington, D.C. Currently, I’m a Producer for NPR’s All Things Considered.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communications (German language minor) from University of South Carolina in 2017, I started at CNN as an intern in Atlanta. Following my internship, I began freelancing with Video Programming at CNN Digital and joined the team full time in 2018. After over 2 years with CNN Digital, I moved to the live TV news programming. I worked on The Newsroom with Jim Acosta and other dayside CNN shows as an Associate Producer in the control room. In 2021, I became a Producer for The Newscast with Wolf Blitzer for CNN+ in Washington, D.C. I later joined NPR in June of 2022.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS: University of South Carolina’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications named me an “Outstanding Young Alumni” for 2024. I was part of the Edward R. Murrow award winning NPR team that won “Excellence in Sound” for reporting we did in the West Bank, a month after October 7th. I was inducted into the U of SC Hall of Leaders in 2016 for my role as Editor-in-Chief of Garnet & Black Magazine.
